Now in our 43rd year
Originally formed by four local enthusiasts the Club held its first meetings ‘behind the stage’ at the local community centre. For the past 35 years we have met in St. Luke’s Church Hall in Gloucester Avenue, Chelmsford. Although many of our current members live in the town, we also have members from other parts of the country. The aim of our Club is to provide a focal point for aspiring photographers of all ages and abilities. We meet on Monday evenings from September through to May. Our Club programme includes competitions, lectures, digital image and print shows, practical evenings and much more. Additional activities are arranged during the summer months and these usually include a ‘long week-end’ away. During these summer events members and their families have the opportunity to produce entries for the ‘Denis Chase Trophy’. This prestigious trophy was donated in memory of Denis who was a long standing member of the Club. Digital image making is now the first choice for many photographers but as a long established club we can also cater for film users. We are not a ‘teaching club’ but help is always on hand to assist new members. We are members of the East Anglian Federation of Photographic Societies. We are also affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. Membership provides us with many opportunities to meet regularly with other clubs for competitions and lectures etc. Our Club is proud to maintain a permanent print exhibition within the Broomfield NHS Hospital in Chelmsford. The exhibition is now on display in the West Wing, Level 1, in the area of the ‘eye clinic’. We are always pleased to welcome visitors and offer a free trial period for potential new members. The hall now has improved wheelchair access. Please see our programme for a complete list of current activities. |
